New Beginnings
Mother and New Genesis were created in Alexander's childhood home during a period of creative curiosity. While working at a screen printing shop in North Charleston, he noticed the deleterious effects handling toxic chemicals without employer-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) were having on his health.
He began to research natural printing techniques and stumbled upon block printing. He spent time exploring the Library of Congress' photography archive and sketching during his work breaks. After testing his technique on a rubber block for New Genesis, Cameron purchased his first linoleum block. Mother was a seamless creation from start-to-finish and established Alexander's career as an artist within the local Charleston art scene.
